From brining professionalism Indian Industries to influencing global technical practices….

In just four decades ITI has evolved from being India’s premier technical institute to a notable national school of technical education. It all started by Department of Employment and training, Gandhinagar-Gujarat and a few other public spirited industrialists realizing that technical education were all vital elements in a growing society and that it was necessary to link these meaningfully with industry. The result was the creation of the Industrial Training Institute, Godhra in 1959 with the Government of Gujarat, and industry.
It was evident that to have a vision was not enough. Effective governance and quality education were seen as critical aspects. From the very start the founders introduced the concept of technical education: all members of the faculty play an important role in administering the diverse academic and non-academic activities of the Institute.
The empowerment of the faculty has been the propelling force behind the high quality of learning experience at ITI. The Institute had tie ups with some industries. This collaboration greatly influenced the Institute’s approach to education. Gradually it emerged as a confluence of the best of Eastern and Western values. It was evident that to have a vision was not enough. Effective governance and quality education were seen as critical aspects.
The Institute was started in the year 1959 with intake capacity of 96 seats in seven trades. At Present the institute have intake capacity of above 1172 seats / year in 20 different trades of six months to two years duration, some short-term courses of three months to four months duration and some short-term courses under smart goal skim of two weeks to one month durations for Informal sector, imparting vocational training in Panchmahals and vicinity. Institute is also declared as Center of Excellence , Electrical Sector Training Center in the year 2006. At present, there are many schemes like NCVT, GCVT, CoE, STCC, Smart Goal etc. are conducted by this institute. As has been widely recognized, the vocational skills can help in improving the employability of the jobseekers. Therefore, they are also advised to use the information on Vocational Training available under Craftsman Training Scheme and Apprentice Training Scheme Industrial Training Institute, Godhra has developed phenomenally in the last 49 years to be recognized as a premier Institute in the Panchmahals(Gujarat) today. It provides education in one of the widest range of Skills to about two lakh students.
The motto "Kaushalam Balam" is a well-known quotation from the Veda and enjoins the work of the teachers and the students of the Institute.
LOCATION
Godhra is known world over for landmarks. One, the world heritage site-Champaner. Godhra is situated about 130 km of Ahmedabad and 80 km of Vadodara, Godhra can be reached in about 3 hours by train and bus from Ahmedabad and 2 hours by train and bus from Vadodara. Godhra is also connected by direct train services to most major cities of the country. The Institute is about 10 minutes drive (4 km) from the Godhra railway station. Autorickshaw can be hired to reach the Institute.

WEATHER
Winter (October to February) is moderate and pleasant (15 to 25 C) in Godhra. Summer (March to June) is hot (30 to 42 C) and sometimes humid. Rains are normally confined to the months of June to September.

TRANSPORT
For visitors on official purpose, Institute vehical can be arranged if prior information is received about their programme. Autorickshaw can be hired for moving inside the Godhra and for visiting to the town market or the railway station. Local bus service and the railway station to the neighboring town of Godhra.

ACCOMMODATION
The institute has hostel. Students are accommodated in 25 rooms of Residence. Accommodation for visitors is arranged in the Circuit House or if need arises, in a students' Hall of Residence.

FOOD
Eating places are Krishna Dinning Hall, SatGuru, Satluj, Sreenath Restaurant etc. Some joints located within the Institute premises serve tea, coffee, soft drinks and light snacks.

MARKET
For daily necessities and groceries, one can walk down to the Market. The market also has medicine stores, tailoring shops, bookshops and facilities for photocopying, word-processing and offset printing. A larger market, Saraf Bazaar, Kalal Darwaja is about 1.5 km from the Institute.

BANKS
The ICICI Bank, and Axis Bank near by the institute and provides foreign exchange facilities also. The State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda and Dena bank is situated in main market of Godhra. Main branch of Bank of Baroda is situated near by the Railway Station where transactions are carried from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm.

POST OFFICE
The Post Office is located close to the Railway station. Full postal and telegraphic service is available at the Post Office.

HOSPITAL
The New Life Hospital is located near by the Institute. It provides indoor and outdoor medical facilities for common and Sevier ailments. Complicated cases are referred for treatment to this Hospital or to the Civil Hospital, both of them are located about 1.5 km from the Institute.

LIBRARY
The Municipal and District Library offer about 30000 volumes in an open shelf system on different fields of science and technology, humanities and social sciences. The library subscribes to about 1400 periodicals. The Institute has also its own library offer about 10000 volumes.

COMPUTER NETWORK
The backbone of lTI Godhra network is based on LANs which is connected with 100 mbps cat5 cable. Two links are in use to provide email and Internet facilities. All laboratories, faculty and officers chambers, All rooms in halls of residence are provided with Internet connectivity.

PLACES TO VISIT
The Champaner World Heritage site, Ratanmal Abhiyaran, Kanelav Lake Nehru, Kadana, Panam, Kada dam sites, Mardeshware Mahadeve Temple, Karleshvwari Heritage site, The traditional tribal fairs ( Chul and Gol Gadheda).
